About
Lus Constantin is an independent multidisciplinary artist who combines his knowledge of architecture, art, and digital archives to create immersive media experiences. Previously, he worked with architectural practices in London and Berlin, where his collaborative work was published in national media. Since 2010, he has managed the reappraisal and digitization of the artist estate of the German sculptor Dieter Finke. Currently, his interests include scripting architecture to transform the digital landscape and questioning how we interact with mixed reality environments. His artistic research investigates the challenges of bringing large data sets onto the blockchain and making them accessible in Metaverse experiences. In March 2023, his virtual architecture work was showcased in the Monaverse.

CURRENT
Diffracting Natures Exhibition (visit Space)
in Collaboration with Dr. Jamie Scott Baxter & Dr. Séverine Marguin
SFB 1265 Re-Figuration of Spaces, Technische Universität Berlin
The art installation "Diffracting Natures" explores stories about nature conservation in botanical gardens in Berlin and Edinburgh. It investigates challenges faced by these gardens due to digitalization, decolonization, and climate change.
The project deconstructs and reconstructs spatial drawings from research into the Metaverse. This process, called diffraction, creates new interpretations of these stories. Visitors can experience these stories as a walk-in digital environment, allowing for open and flexible exploration. This experiment combines art and humanities to explore how digital technology can be used beyond sharing scientific knowledge. It serves as a tool for immersive visual-spatial research and analysis in the Anthropocene era.
No_03 CYMA CONCEPT (visit Space)
The CYMA Project is a creative exploration of how we perceive and interact with proportional systems in a virtual environment. It investigates how transparencies, reflections, lights and shadows affect the sense of place and immersion. I found that these elements enhanced the embodiment experience and made the virtual space more realistic and engaging. Instead of a plain white box feeling like a web page, the virtual space has a rich and dynamic quality of light that reflects and casts shadows of the user in the environment. This creates a stronger sense of presence and being.
Scripting Architecture
Scripting architecture is a powerful tool that enables architects to create spaces that are dynamic, adaptable, and engaging. It allows architects to combine creativity and functionality, and to realize designs that were previously impossible. With scripting, the built environment becomes a flexible medium, that can change and evolve according to the needs and preferences of its users. This approach allows architects to experiment with new spatial solutions, materials and shapes, and to design environments that enhance interactions and experiences. Scripting architecture leads to a new paradigm where spaces are responsive, interactive, and immersive, connecting with users on a deep level. It also challenges the traditional concept of static design, and encourages architects to design spaces that are sustainable, adaptable, and harmonious with the natural and social context. Scripting in architecture offers endless possibilities for exploration, innovation, and transformation of spaces.
Architecture Transforms the Digital Landscape
The idea of an architect being the web designer of the future implies that architects can bring their expertise in facilitating social interactions and apply it to the virtual realm. It suggests that architects can leverage their understanding of space, proportion systems, and human embodiment to create immersive and harmonious 3D worlds in the virtual space. In this context, the "CYMA Space" combines traditional spatial concepts with elements of reality to create a sense of Place and belonging. Many forward-looking architectural designs draw inspiration from classical proportion systems and traditional architectural principles because they have been proven to create this sense of harmony and connection with a otherwise technological environment. These principles can be applied in virtual spaces, not merely as replicas but by capturing their essence and transforming them into something new. However, with the shift towards XR VR and the introduction of inter changeable avatars, there is a challenge in redefining our identity and exploring new possibilities. Virtual social communities have already become part of our human fabric, but the question remains: What will these 3D worlds look like when we challenge our own identity? It's important to experiment and ask these questions about the nature of cyberspace. The goal should not be to escape from reality but to add a new dimension to our realm of experiences. These virtual spaces should empower individuals to grow, create, and contextualize information in meaningful ways. They should serve as tools for self-expression -discovery and connection.
No_02
Space No_02 is a virtual architecture project that aims to cater to collectors with a large collection of CRYPTO Art. The project offers various utilities, including exhibition of the collection, organizing art in different contexts, facilitating meetings and collaborations, and hosting events. The architecture comprises three main components: a Central Monumental Volume, Curated Spaces, and the Archive. Each element serves a distinct purpose, follows a unique design language and contributes to the overall narrative. The Central Monumental Volume stands as the centerpiece of the project, showcasing the current main pieces of the collection. It exudes grandeur and provides a focal point for visitors to immerse themselves in the artistic brilliance of the exhibited artworks.Surrounding the Central Monumental Volume are the Curated Spaces, which serve as detached areas for small curated exhibitions. These spaces allow different curations and perspectives to be explored. The Living Archive, positioned as a vault or archive, offers an immersive experience of other noteworthy pieces from the collection. This space allows visitors to contextualize and appreciate the artworks within a broader framework, fostering a deeper understanding and connections of the collection.
Space No_02 integrates various functions and spatial qualities to enhance the visitor experience. Upon entering, visitors are greeted by a garden-like environment, creating a tranquil and welcoming atmosphere. The Monumental Volume connects all the different horizontal layers of the exhibition space and leads you to a Adjacent to plaza, which is surounded by exhibition spaces that further contribute to curating and contextualizing the NFT collection. These spaces, while somewhat traditional in their layout, seamlessly lead into the Archive, which which forms the base of the building. Contrary to its name, the Archive is an open space without walls, allowing for freedom of movement and ample opportunities to rearrange the rest NFT collection. This dynamic layout promotes exploration and encourages visitors to establish new connections between the artworks.
No_01
Space No 01 explores the relationship between proportional systems and the user's avatar within the realm of cyberspace. Designed as a solitary haven, it is meticulously crafted to house a single piece of Crypto Art, providing an immersive encounter for the user.At the core of Space No 01 lies a thought-provoking inquiry into the interplay of proportional systems and the avatar's experience in the digital landscape. Employing an intricate network of invisible 3D layers, the proportional system acts as an underlying framework that shapes the spatial definitions, forging intricate cuts in the surfaces and generating captivating proportional patterns throughout the environment.
While initially concealed, these concealed layers come to life and manifest their presence as the user interacts with the virtual space. Each interaction uncovers new dimensions of the architecture, gradually revealing the hidden intricate patterns and underlying proportional systems. This dynamic engagement between the user and the environment serves as a catalyst for contemplation, stimulating introspection and sparking a dialogue on the role of spatial perception within the metaverse.By serving as an entry point to the metaverse, Space No_01 assumes the role of a sanctuary for deep reflection and introspection. It offers a respite from the bustling digital realm, inviting users to retreat into a serene and immersive environment. The carefully curated ambience fosters a sense of tranquility, allowing individuals to engage with the single piece of Crypto Art in a meaningful and undisturbed manner, encouraging a profound connection between the observer and the artwork.
RECENT
One of the challenges of digital art is how to preserve its authenticity and uniqueness in the digital world. Blockchain technology offers a solution by creating a digital ledger that records the ownership and provenance of each artwork. By tokenizing digital art on the blockchain, artists can create scarce and valuable digital assets that can be traded and collected on various platforms. Moreover, by integrating blockchain with metaverse technologies, artists can showcase their digital art in immersive and interactive virtual environments that enhance their artistic expression and audience engagement.
